DIY Geometric High Contrast Mobile

Updated: May 12, 2020

Newborns love looking at Geometric shapes & cannot yet distinguish colors. For that reason, high contrast cards provide excellent visuals. The first color newborns see is red, so feel free to hang this mobile with some red string or change out the patterns for some patterns with a spot of red.

Materials:

White paper (regular printer paper is easier to fold than card stock)

Ribbon or String

Embroidery Hoop or Wooden Rod to hang ornaments on

Hook to hang from ceiling

Print the PDF front and back - feel free to change the pattern side to anything you like or print shapes on different colored paper for older babies.

Cut on the solid lines

Fold on the dotted lines

Glue the solid flaps

Piece together shapes

Before completely closing each shape I tied a knot at the end of my string and slipped it inside the shape at one of the vertices.

This mobile is great for play time! The high contrast patterns will stimulate your newborn and should not be used over the crib or bassinet when you are trying to let your baby rest.
